Legal
Terms of Service
The agreement between you and Bindr — what you can expect from us, and what we expect from you.
Last updated: [PENDING LEGAL REVIEW — publication date to be set]
About these terms
These terms cover your use of Bindr — the app, the website and everything connected to them. By creating an account you agree to them. You contract with [LEGAL ENTITY NAME AND COMPANY NUMBER — confirm with counsel], registered at [REGISTERED ADDRESS — confirm with counsel]. Our Privacy Policy and Community Guidelines, linked in the footer, form part of this agreement.
Who can use Bindr
You must be 18 or over, with no exception for anyone who is nearly 18. You must also be legally able to enter into this agreement and not barred from using a service like this under any law that applies to you. If you have previously had an account removed for breaking these terms or the Community Guidelines, you may not create another.
Your account and your security
You are responsible for what happens on your account. Keep your password to yourself, and tell us if you think someone else has got into it. One person, one account — you cannot sell, rent or transfer one. Your profile should be true, and photos should be of you, recent enough that someone meeting you would recognise you.
Acceptable use
Bindr is for meeting people. Use it for that. Respect a no the first time it is given, and read the Community Guidelines — they are the detailed version of this section, and they are enforced.
What is not allowed
- Being under 18, or contacting anyone you believe to be under 18.
- Harassment, threats, stalking, hate speech or slurs.
- Sending sexually explicit images to someone who has not asked for them.
- Impersonating another person, or using photos that are not of you.
- Scams, fraud, phishing, or asking members for money, gift cards or crypto.
- Commercial solicitation, advertising, escort services or recruitment.
- Sharing another member's private information, photos or messages.
- Posting anything illegal, or depicting the abuse of a child or an animal.
- Scraping, bulk-collecting profiles, or using bots and automated accounts.
- Interfering with the service: probing for vulnerabilities, breaking access controls, reverse-engineering the app, or overloading our systems.
Breaking any of these can cost you your account, and in serious cases we report it to the police or another authority.
Your content
Your photos, your bio and your messages remain yours; we do not claim ownership of anything you post. To run the service we need permission to host, store, resize and format that content and show it to the members you have chosen. So you give us a licence to do those things, for as long as your content is on Bindr and for as long afterwards as we are required to retain it. That licence is for operating the service, not permission to use your face in an advertisement. [CONTENT LICENCE SCOPE — counsel to confirm the wording, whether the licence is wider than the product needs, and what survives account deletion.]
You keep responsibility for what you post: you need the right to post it, and it must not break the law or these terms. The Bindr name, logo, app, website, design and code belong to us or to our licensors, and you may use them as part of using Bindr and not otherwise.
Subscriptions and billing
Bindr is free to join, and matching and messaging are free. We also offer paid subscriptions. [SUBSCRIPTION TIERS, PRICES, CURRENCY PER MARKET AND BILLING PERIODS — confirm before publication. No price, term or currency is stated here because none has been verified.]
Automatic renewal and cancelling
Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless you cancel first, charged to the payment method on file. [RENEWAL NOTICE REQUIREMENTS AND CANCELLATION DEADLINE — confirm per market; some require advance notice of renewal.] You can cancel any time. If you subscribed through the Apple App Store or Google Play, cancel in your settings with that store — we cannot do it for you. Cancelling stops the next charge; your subscription runs to the end of the period you have paid for.
Refunds, cooling-off and price changes
[REFUND POLICY AND STATUTORY COOLING-OFF OR WITHDRAWAL RIGHTS — confirm per market. These differ significantly across the UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, and store purchases are refunded by the store under its own policy. No refund window has been invented here.] If we change the price of a subscription we will tell you first, and you will be able to cancel rather than accept it. [NOTICE PERIOD — confirm with counsel.]
Suspension and termination
You can delete your account at any time in the app. Deleting it ends this agreement, though some provisions survive — for example the content licence to the extent we still have to retain records. We can suspend or remove an account that breaks these terms or our Community Guidelines, that puts other members at risk, or where the law requires us to act. Where it is appropriate and safe, we will tell you why and give you a route to appeal. For serious safety issues — anything involving a minor, credible threats, or coordinated fraud — we act first and remove permanently.
What we do not promise
We work hard to keep Bindr running and useful, but we cannot promise it will always be available, uninterrupted or error-free, and we cannot promise you will meet anyone. We do not run background checks. We review reports and use automated tools, but we cannot vet every person, so please use your judgement when meeting someone.
Limitation of liability
We do not exclude or limit our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded. Subject to that, our liability to you in connection with Bindr is limited. [LIABILITY CAP AND ITS WORDING — to be set by counsel. No figure or formula is written here, and none should be added by anyone other than counsel.]
Disputes and governing law
If something goes wrong, please contact us first at support@bindr.dating — most problems are quicker to fix that way than through a formal process. [GOVERNING LAW, VENUE AND DISPUTE RESOLUTION MECHANISM — to be drafted by counsel for each market. No arbitration provider, forum, class action waiver or governing law is named here on purpose. Mandatory arbitration and class action waivers are restricted or unenforceable in several of these jurisdictions, and consumers generally keep the right to bring a claim in their local courts and to use the relevant ombudsman or dispute scheme.]
Changes, and how to reach us
We may update these terms. When we do, we will post the new version here and update the date at the top. If a change materially affects your rights we will give you notice in the app or by email first, and continuing to use Bindr after that means you accept the new version. [NOTICE PERIOD AND ACCEPTANCE MECHANISM — confirm with counsel.] Questions about these terms: support@bindr.dating.
