Common questions

If your question is not here, ask us. We would rather answer it than have you guess.

Is Bindr free?

Yes. Making an account, browsing, matching and messaging the people you match with are all free — there is no paywall between you and a conversation. A paid membership exists and adds extras on top, such as being able to message someone before you have matched, but it is never the price of a reply. If you and another member have matched, you can talk to each other for nothing.

What does Bindr cost?

Nothing at all unless you decide to upgrade. Membership pricing depends on the plan length, your local currency and, on mobile, what the App Store or Google Play charges in your region — so the only accurate price is the one shown to you at checkout. Check it there before you buy. A subscription bought through an app store is also managed and cancelled in that store’s account settings rather than inside Bindr.

Do I have to label myself to use Bindr?

No. Bindr is label-free by design. You are never asked to declare yourself bisexual, lesbian, gay, straight or anything else in order to make an account. Instead of describing what you are, you choose the kind of people you want to see — every option is on by default and you narrow from there. If a label matters to you, put it on your profile. You simply do not owe anyone one.

Is Bindr only for bisexual people?

No. Bindr is best known for bisexual dating because bisexual people are so poorly served elsewhere — filtered out on one side, fetishised on the other. But the app is for the whole LGBTQ spectrum: lesbian, gay, bi, pan, trans, non-binary, queer and questioning. There is no separate app per identity and no gold-star gatekeeping. That is the point of building it label-free.

Can I use Bindr if I am not out?

Yes, and a lot of members are in exactly that position. You are not required to state an orientation, you control who can see your profile, and nothing you do on Bindr is announced to people you have not matched with. If being recognised is a real risk for you, read the privacy section of our safety guide before you upload photos — a background gives away more than most people expect.

Is my profile visible to people I have not matched with, and can I control that?

Dating only works if people can find you, so your profile can appear in discovery for members who fit what you have said you are looking for — that is how anyone matches with anyone. What you control is the scope: who you are shown to, what actually appears on your profile, and whether you appear at all. You can hide yourself from discovery when you want a break without deleting anything, and anyone you block cannot see you.

How does photo verification work?

You take a live selfie in a pose the app gives you, and it is checked against the photos already on your profile before the verified badge appears. The selfie itself is not added to your profile — only the badge is. Verification confirms that the person in the photos is the person using the account. It does not vouch for anyone’s character, so treat it as one useful signal among several rather than a guarantee.

Can couples use Bindr?

Yes. Two partners can link their accounts, so a couple reads as a couple at first glance instead of three messages in, and singles can filter couples in or out depending on what they want. What is not allowed is misrepresenting who is on the other end of a conversation — pretending to be single when two people are using the account is a community guidelines violation, not a tactic.

Is Bindr poly friendly?

Yes — poly positive rather than poly tolerant. Ethical non-monogamy is supported in the product itself: you can link your profile to a partner’s account so your relationship structure is clear up front instead of being a conversation you repeat with every match. Monogamous members are just as welcome. Being straightforward about what you are looking for is what stops either group wasting the other’s time.

What is the minimum age to join Bindr?

You must be 18 or over. There are no exceptions and there is no under-18 version of the app. If you come across an account you believe belongs to someone under 18, report it rather than messaging them about it — reporting is what puts the account in front of a moderator.

Which countries is Bindr available in?

Bindr is international. You can join from most countries, on iOS, Android or the web, and this site is one of several serving English-speaking markets. Because people are shown to you by distance, the practical question is usually how many members are near you rather than which country you are in — you will see that for yourself as soon as you set your location.

Is there a Bindr app, or is it web only?

Both. There are apps for iOS and Android, and the full site works in any browser. It is one account across all three, so you can sign up on the web and carry on in the app, or the other way round, without losing your matches or your conversations.

How do I block someone?

Open their profile or your conversation with them and choose block. They disappear from your view and you disappear from theirs — they cannot message you, open your profile or find you again. They are not told that you blocked them. You do not need a reason and you do not owe anyone an explanation first.

How do I report someone?

There is a report option on every profile and in every conversation. Pick the reason that fits, add anything that helps, and send it. Reports are reviewed by a person, not closed automatically, and specifics — what was said, and where — let that person act faster. Blocking and reporting are separate: blocking removes someone from your view, reporting is what gets their account looked at. Do both, and never keep a conversation going just to gather evidence.

Someone I matched with has asked me for money. What should I do?

Do not send it. Not a loan, not gift cards, not cryptocurrency, not a customs fee or a plane ticket, however long you have been talking and however convincing the emergency sounds. A match asking for money is the clearest single sign of a romance scam. Block them, then report the account so it can be removed before it reaches someone else. If you have already sent money, contact your bank straight away and report it to your local police.

How do I delete my account?

You can delete your account from your settings, in the app or on the web. Deletion removes your profile from discovery and cannot be undone, so if you only want a break, hide yourself from discovery instead — your matches and conversations will still be waiting. What happens to your data after deletion is set out in our privacy policy.

Still need a hand?

Three places to go next, depending on what you need.

  • Our dating safety guide — verification, visibility, spotting a romance scam, and what to do if something goes wrong.
  • Contact support — for anything about your own account, including billing and deletion.
  • Report a member from their profile or your conversation with them, rather than by email. A report carries the context a moderator needs; an email does not.
Something urgent, or someone in immediate danger? Contact your local emergency services first. Report the account to us afterwards — we can act on the account, but we cannot send anyone help.
